Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of Covid-19 worldwide, with all connected risks and travel restrictions, the IX Edition of the International Geant4 School is cancelled.
A five days hands-on Geant4 course organized by Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare and Sharing Software Knowledge will be held in Catania (Italy) from October 4th to 9th, 2020. Geant4 is a software toolkit, written in C ++, for simulating tracking of particles in the matter with the Monte Carlo approach.
The software is developed and maintained by an international collaboration of scientists belonging to different institutions. Geant4 can be used for applications in high energy physics, astrophysics, medical physics, particle astrophysics and nuclear physics.
The lectures of the IX International Geant4 School will cover all aspects of the toolkit from basic installation through advanced topics and will be interspersed with examples that build a progressively more complex application, extensible to real space and medical use.
A dedicated short C++ course is also included to get familiar participants with the basic elements of the Geant4 programming language.
The school is aimed at PhD students, post-doc, young researchers working at universities or research institutes. On the last day of the School, students will have the opportunity to test their learning achievements through a written exam. The successful outcome of the test will be reported on a written certificate for those interested.
A simple attendance certificate will also be available on request.
Registration fee:
The registration fee is 350 €.
Due to the uncertainty for the COVID-19 emergency, no "early-registration" is planned

- School material, including slides and exercises
- Bag and office supplies

- Coffee breaks and lunches
- The Social diner
Office materials and means are not included for free waive participants (University students)

Moreover, a maximum of 15 Master Degree students will be admitted for free. Students have to register and prove their status sending a valid document (regular inscription certificate, other) to the School e-mail: softwareschool.infnlns@gmail.com.
Please, note that office material and meals (coffee breaks, lunches and social dinner) ARE NOT included for the free waive students.
Meals can be eventually requested and paid as extras.
