(Il seminario sara` presentato in collaborazione con Andrea Carati, Univ. di Milano) Original form of the correspondence principle challenged by Newtonian trajectories which reproduce the phenomenology in deep quantum regimes; 1) Infrared spectra of ionic crystals (model: ions with given effective potentials), 2) Chemical bond in H2 + ion (model: two protons and one electron, purely Coulomb potentials). Then we show why, in a classical frame, electrons donât fall on nuclei and ions donât come to rest, by radiation. Reason is Wheeler-Feynman identity, which was recently proven. Application: Existence of polaritons (a bifurcation in dispersion relations of ionic crystals, due to retardation), whose proof is not yet available in a quantum frame.
