Black hole microstates and de Sitter solutions in string theory

Description

String theory has a large phase space whose structure still needs to be understood. I will show how newly discovered instabilities put constraints on phenomenologically relevant solutions with a positive cosmological constant, I will discuss their implications and possible future routes to resolve these issues. I will then describe new exactly solvable models for the dynamics of strings in curved space-times and their application to the description of the internal structure of black holes in string theory, and to the resolution of the information paradox.
