Description

Optical design of telescopes must be chosen carefully in order to control systematic effects especially for experiments dealing with polarization. CMB telescopes usually have shields and baffles able to reduce the pickup which may introduce unwanted sidelobes. We present a method to model baffling structures of large aperture telescope to predict the sidelobe pattern. Analysis with antenna software like GRASP may give insights both in power and polarizations produced by systematic effects. We present here a model of the Atacama Cosmology Telescope and predictions on both the main beam shape and sidelobe pattern helpful even in upcoming experiments like Simons Observatory and CCAT-prime.
