Description
Following the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), is entering in a new research phase, thanks to a new upgraded configuration named “High Luminosity LHC”. This upgrade, based on the development of novel advanced technologies, may unveil new phenomena, like dark matter or other new mechanisms beyond the Standard Model. The innovations of the high luminosity machine, as well as other technological breakthroughs in various fields (new accelerating techniques, novel high temperature superconductors) are paving the way to the next post-LHC giant project like for example a circular collider of 100 km to go beyond the 100 TeV energy frontier, making another bold step toward the Big Bang.
