In this seminar I will shortly review our current understanding of the hypothetical Dark Matter (DM) component in galaxies and galaxy clusters. In particular, I will focus on the most robust evidences for its presence, the on-going efforts to probe its properties and the current debate on alternative theories of gravity. Finally, I discuss the recent claim of a no-DM galaxy and the search for DM particles with liquid Argon detectors.
