Getting away from there
Options if you fly from TRS:

Getting there
Trieste is reachable by plane, train, or bus/car (see below). Once in Trieste, you need to go to check in at the ICTP Galileo Guesthouse (via Beirut, 7, 34151 Trieste). For those coming
(i) from TRS by Gorizia lines bus#51: ask the driver to drop you off at “Miramare/ICTP”, cross the road and look for via Beirut, a street that climbs uphill — take via Beirut, walk 10 minutes across its winding turns until you find the Galileo Guesthouse on your right.
(ii) from the "Trieste Centrale” train station: you've got two options, either get bus #6 headed to “Grignano” or get a local train that stops at the Miramare train station.
-- bus option — buy the 1.25€ ticket at the newspaper spot inside the Trieste Central station, exit through the main entrance (that is the exit facing a park) make a left and look the other side of the street for an old yellow building with a large “Francesco Parisi” writing on it, the bus stop is there — see attached map), once on bus#6 get off at the “Miramare” bus stop (ask the driver for ICTP if in doubt) and walk a few meters to your right until finding via Beirut, a street that climbs uphill to your left, take via Beirut, walk 10 minutes across its winding turns until hitting the Galileo Guesthouse on your right. The last bus #6 leaves the Trieste Centrale station at 23h10. After that your only option from Trieste Centrale to ICTP is taxi (+39-040-307730, approx ~15-20 euro, not refundable by INFN unfortunately)
--train option — a few local (“treno regionale”) trains that leave Trieste Centrale stop at the Miramare train station (once every two hours, first at 9h27 last at 19h27), which is a few meters away from the Galileo GH. Once off the train at the Miramare train station, descend the stairs to the short pedestrian tunnel that crosses under the railways, turn left at the exit of the tunnel, and Galileo GH is the second building you’ll see on your left, after approximately 30 m. This option is more comfortable as you don’t have to climb uphill with your luggage.
(iii) by train coming from Venice. If you are so lucky that your train from Venice stops at the Miramare train station, get off there, go down the stairs to the short pedestrian tunnel that crosses under the railway, turn left after the tunnel, and Galileo is the second building you’ll meet on your left, after approximately 30 m. Otherwise get to Trieste Centrale and start again from (ii).
