Description
Spin-dependent phenomena in III-V semiconductor nanowires have
attracted great attention recently. For instance, effective g-factors and spin-orbit coupling splittings are important ingredients for the study of Majorana states in hybrid nanowire-superconductor setups. Unlike the well established III-V zinc-blende compounds, some basic properties of non-nitride wurtzite materials are not completely known, specially regarding the spin degree of freedom. In this talk, I will show a robust theoretical framework [Faria Junior et al., Phys. Rev. B 93, 235204 (2016)], combining ab initio calculations and the k.p method, to investigate spin dependent properties in InAs and InP nanowires with wurtzite structure. Specifically, I will discuss
recent calculations on Zeeman splittings of InP nanowires under external magnetic field and on spin-orbit coupling effects in InAs wurtzite and InSb zinc-blende nanowires under quantum confinement and external electric field.
