Description
The effective field theory (EFT) parametrization for dark matter (DM) searches at colliders has become notoriously unpopular, due to its incapability of describing new physics with light mediators. Simplified models have taken over. In this talk, I will argue that the two points of view are instead complementary, and discuss large classes of theories where the EFT is indeed necessary to organize DM tests at colliders.
