Description
In recent years, it has become evident that the electron neutrino is a superposition of (at least) three neutrino states with different masses. The coefficients of this linear superposition govern a very rich ensemble of neutrino flavor oscillation and non-oscillation phenomena, with important theoretical and experimental implications in (astro)particle physics and cosmology. The status and perspective of this field of research will be reviewed, with emphasis on aspects of general interest.
