Description
HRIBF is no longer an operating RIB facility, but its unique and specialized equipment can be used with great advantage for R&D efforts related to the production of radioisotopes for use in medicine, industry, and research. In particular, the energy range of the light-ion beams from the tandem electrostatic accelerator is well-suited to many radioisotope production reactions and the mass separators can be used to separate radioisotopes from target material in reactor-produced samples.
This talk will describe the types of measurements that can be made using HRIBF systems (e.g., cross-section measurements, determination of nuclear decay properties, and separation of radioisotopes from target materials) along with specific examples of current and completed R&D projects.
