Description
In this talk I will describe some missing pieces in the study of the ultra high energy cosmic and how the Pierre Auger Observatory will be upgrade with the AMIGA enhancement (Auger Muons and Infill for the Ground Array). AMIGA has been design to study the second knee energy region of the spectrum (around 1017 eV) with denser surface detectors and underground muon counters. I will describe the AMIGA detectors and the installation of the firsts modules, showing some comparisons of laboratory and field measurements. I also will give a brief introduction of the ANDES project, i.e. the installation of an underground laboratory in the southern hemisphere: the Agua Negra Deep Experiment Site.
