Description
The phase diagram of strongly coupled Yang--Mills theories with a finite density of fundamental matter is still not satisfactorily understood from first principles.
In this talk I will discuss how to describe finite density YM-matter theories with a string theory dual at low temperatures. The IR physics of the field theory is non-relativistic and governed by the charge density, which in the string theory picture is given by the dominance of fundamental strings dissolved in higher-dimensional D-branes near the origin of spacetime.
