Description
The Radio-Frequency Fragment Separator has been designed, constructed and successfully used at NCSL (MSU). It allows to significantly improve the purification of radioactive beams from unwanted fragments. The main part of the RFFS is the resonant structure, where transverse radio-frequency (RF) field, synchronized with the cyclotron RF field, induces different deflections on the beam particles depending on their phases, and hence plays the role of a periodic velocity filter. The design of the cavity and the technical specifications of the RFFS will be shown.
