The Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) is one of four INFN National laboratories. It is the largest underground laboratory in the world for experiments in particle physics, particle astrophysics and nuclear astrophysics. It is a worldwide facility for scientists from 22 different countries and working on about 15 experiments. It is located halfway between the cities of L'Aquila and Teramo, about 120 km from Rome.
You can find further information on LNGS website.

Unfortunately no airfare support is possible due to bodget constraints.
The Organizing Committee will provide shuttle bus from Rome airports on September 21 and from LNGS to airports on October 3 at no cost for the students. Timetable will be finalized soon.
Furthermore daily shuttle buses will pickup people from hotel and will bring them back at the end of each school day.
Furthermore also buses to excursions in the weekend are included in the transportation plan of the Summer Institute which is completely covered by the organizing committee.

Here you can find some information about how to reach LNGS independently by train and coach or by car. You can find more logistics and travel information on LNGS webpage.
