THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CHIRAL DYNAMICS

June 29 - July 3, 2015, Pisa, Italy

 FIRST CIRCULAR
 December 2014

------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. About the Conference
------------------------

The International Workshop on Chiral Dynamics 2015 will take place in Pisa,
from June 29 to July 3 2015, and will be jointly hosted by the Department
of Physics of the University of Pisa and the Pisa branch of the
Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare. This is the 8th conference in a
series which started in 1994 at MIT, and was later held in Mainz
(1997), Jefferson Lab (2000 and 2012), Bonn (2003), Duke (2006) and
Bern (2009). The conference is supported by: University of Pisa,
Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, Comune di Pisa, Comune di Lucca,
and Provincia di Lucca.

The purpose of this workshop series is to bring physicists together
who are active in this field, as well as those who are interested, to
discuss and debate the most recent achievements and future
developments. The workshop will have a nearly equal number of
contributions from theorists and experimentalists and, as in the latest
editions, a strong synergy with the lattice community will be present.

The principal topics of the conference are:

    Hadron structure
    Isospin breaking in hadronic systems
    Meson-meson and meson-baryon interaction
Effective field theory and chiral perturbation theory
    Few-body physics
Compton scattering and the polarizabilities of the nucleons
    Hadronic contributions to g_mu-2
    Lattice QCD and nuclear physics

In addition to the plenary talks, these topics will be the focus of
the three following working groups (WGs):

2. Registration and participation
------------------------------------------------

Those planning to attend are kindly requested to complete the
registration form available at the conference web-site

http://agenda.infn.it/event/cd2015.

Accommodation:

We kindly ask you to make your own bookings. A list of hotels can be
found, among others, at the web-site http://portale.pisaonline.it. The
average price is usually less than 100euro/night. However, since
summer is holiday time in Italy, please do not wait until the last
days to reserve your room.

Registration and fee

The registration portal will open on January 19, 2015. The
registration fee will include participation to the conference,
lunches, coffee-breaks, excursion, and conference dinner.

The following information is preliminary, due to pending
decision by the INFN regarding the amount of its financial support.

If paid before April 30 2015, the full registration fee for CD2015 is
350 euro. This increases to 380 for registrations received after this date.
The registration fee will become 450 euro if paid on site after the conference
begins and in this case the registration fees must be paid by cheque or
credit card. A limited number of stipends covering accommodation and
conference fee, is available. Further information will be given in the
next circular.

3. Contributions and Proceedings
------------------------------------------------

Submission of abstracts for oral and poster contributions to one
of the three working groups is encouraged. The three WGs will run in
parallel in three sessions, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons.
Those submissions will be reviewed by the Conveners of each WG,
who will select presentations for the parallel and the poster sessions.

Abstracts may be submitted via the conference web-site. In the
submission form, it will be given the possibility to select the suitable
WG.

The registration portal will open on January 19, 2015, and submissions will be
accepted until May 5 2015.

Instructions for the format of the contributions and the poster
session will be found on the web-site of the conference.

Proceedings will be published. They will include invited talks,
selected contributed talks, and single-page summaries of posters.

4. Organization Information
---------------------------------------

Location of the conference:

The conference will take place at the Pisa University Conference
Center located in Largo Bruno Pontecorvo, in Pisa downtown. Pisa is
situated in Tuscany, in the central part of Italy. It is around 60 Km
west of Florence and 300 Km north-west of Rome.

Transportation:

The city of Pisa can be reached by:

i) plane: Pisa airport is located very close to the city center. The Hotels
can be reached very easily by bus or with a few minute ride by taxi.
The airport has very good connections with major European cities (London, Paris,
Munich, Madrid and others). There are also direct connections with many minor
destinations all over Europe and frequent connections with the two main
Italian airports, Roma Fiumicino and Milano Malpensa. For
further informations, please visit the web-site http://www.pisa-airport.com/.

ii) Train: the Pisa main train station is located in the city center.
Frequent connections from and to Florence, Rome and Milan are available.
A trip from Rome or Milan with a direct train takes around 3 hours.
For further information, visit the web-site http://www.trenitalia.it/.

iii) Car: Motorway A12 connects Pisa with the north part of Italy (Milan,
Genua). Motorway A11 connects Pisa with Florence. From south, it is more
convenient first to reach Florence with motorway A1 and then follow direction
Pisa Nord with motorway A11.

Second circular:

The second circular is planned for the beginning of April, 2015
