Description
In recent years a great deal of progress has been made in understanding universal features of gauge theories at strong coupling. In this talk we focus on the construction of the holographic description of field theories with high baryon density but which still stay strong coupled. As a starting point we consider the AdS_5xS^5 background describing N=4 SYM theory and we introduce flavour degrees of freedom with baryonic chemical-potential by means of M D7-branes carrying an electric gauge field (this corresponds to have fundamental strings dissolved in the D7s). There is a precise sense in which it is possible to increase the baryon density by keeping the number of D7s small and increasing the density of fundamental strings. We will discuss this limit and its regime of validty. Our discussion will focus mostly on the deconfined phase, but we will further comment on the deconfined one and more generally on the solutions of our system.
