In mission-critical industries, storage infrastructure design is the difference
between seamless operations and costly downtime.
OpenStack Multi-Attach volumes are emerging as a powerful tool for
high-availability clusters.
In this work, implementing shared multiattach storage in Kubernetes based on
OpenStack volumes was realized for organizing simultaneous parallel read and
write access (Read-Write-Many) between the nodes of a Kubernetes cluster. The
entire infrastructure deployment process was generated on OpenTofu, and the
management pipeline was implemented in GitLab CI/CD. During the automated
process using OpenTofu, virtual volumes were deployed, a specialized cluster
filesystem was configured, the necessary components and target applications
were installed. In the final stage, disk subsystem performance load tests were
conducted, demonstrating the practical applicability, advantages, and current
limitations of this approach during concurrent operation of nodes with a shared
block device.
