The possibility that neutrinos could be described in a different way with respect to all the other fermions was suggested by Ettore Majorana in 1937. After 80 years this hypothesis is still lacking an experimental proof. The CUORE experiment (Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events) was designed to confirm the existence of the Majorana neutrino, thus providing an answer to one of the most longstanding open questions in our descriptions of elementary particles.
CUORE construction has been completed in 2016 and the experiment has started collecting data since April 2017 in the Gran Sasso underground Laboratory.

After years of successful operation and scientific achievements, CUORE has now reached its ultimate goal: the accumulation of an exposure of 3 ton-years, representing the completion of the experimental program envisioned for the detector.

This achievement marks the culmination of a remarkable scientific and technological effort involving hundreds of researchers, engineers, technicians and institutions worldwide. Reaching an exposure of 3 ton-years constitutes a unique milestone in the search for neutrinoless double-beta decay and in the study of the fundamental properties of neutrinos.

Please note that registration is mandatory in order to attend the event. The registration form will be online until September 25, 2026.
