DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Andrea Nava (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare)\
n\nThe absolute value of the neutrino mass is one of the known missing pie
ces of the Standard Model. Its determination is of paramount importance fo
r both particle physics and cosmology. \nThe Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino (
 KATRIN) experiment\, featuring a ultra-high activity source and a high-res
olution electrostatic filter\, has the potential to perform a direct searc
h of the neutrino mass with unprecendented sensitivity. \nMoreover\, KATR
IN can also probe several Beyond Standard Model extensions\, in a compleme
ntary way comparing to other existing experiments (e.g. oscillation experi
ments). One of these possibilities is the search of eV-scale sterile neutr
inos\, often invoked to explain anomalies observed in short-baseline oscil
lation experiments.\nIn this talk\, the KATRIN working principle\, as well
as the latest results regarding the neutrino mass and eV sterile neutrino
 s will be presented.\n\nhttps://agenda.infn.it/event/52157/
