DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Jingyu Tang (University of Science and Technology of
China USTC)\n\nThe Super Tau-Charm Facility (STCF) was proposed as a thir
d-generation circular electron-positron collider in the energy range of 2-
 7 GeV (CoM) and with a luminosity greater than $5 \\times 10^{34}$ $\\math
 rm{cm}^{-2}$ s ${}^{-1}$ @ 4 GeV\, aiming to explore charm physics and tau
physics in the next decades.\nThis seminar will introduce the science goa
ls\, facility design\, R&D efforts and project planning of STCF\, but with
the main focus on the accelerator.\nUnder the financial support of the ke
y technology R&D project by the local governments and other national fundi
ng agencies\, the STCF accelerator team including international collaborat
ors has completed the conceptual design of the accelerator in 2024\, and i
s working on the technical design. The accelerator consists of a full-ener
gy injector consisting of multi-section linacs and a positron damping/accu
mulator ring and a double-ring collider with the crab-waist collision sche
me. Key accelerator physics and technological challenges will be addressed
. Ongoing R&D efforts and progresses will be summarized.\nThe baseline des
ign has one detector\, but the reserved space for the second detector is a
lso reserved. The project planning will also be given. \nProf. Jingyu Tan
g is Professor at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) si
nce 2022. He graduated from USTC with Bachelor in 1984\, and from Institut
e of Modern Physics (IMP\, CAS) with PhD in 1990. From 1993 to 2004\, he w
orked at IMP\, and from 2004 to 2022 at Institute of High Energy Physics (
IHEP\, CAS). He has also about eight-year experience in several European l
aboratories such as GANIL (Caen\, France)\, CAL-MEDICYC (Nice\, France) an
d FZJ (Juelich\, Germany). His main interests are accelerator physics and
technology\, and particle beam applications. He played key roles in facili
ties and projects including Heavy-Ion Research Facility at Lanzhou\, China
Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS)\, China Accelerator-Driven System and Su
per Proton-Proton Collider (second phase of CEPC-SPPC). He initiated and p
romoted the projects like the Back-n white neutron source and the EMuS muo
n source at CSNS. Currently he is one of the leading persons in the Super
 Tau-Charm Facility (STCF\, an electron-positron collider under R&D) projec
 t.\n\nhttps://agenda.infn.it/event/51377/
