Logistical Information

Arriving by train

The conference venue is 500m far from the main railway station (Firenze Santa Maria Novella), which is well served by the high-speed train line. Approximate travel durations from main italian cities are:

  • from Turin: 3h00m
  • from Milan: 1h45m (MXP and LIN airport connections)
  • from Venice: 2h00m (VCE airport connections)
  • from Bologna: 40m (BLQ airport connections)
  • from Pisa: 1h00m (PSA airport connections)
  • from Rome: 1h40m (FCO and CIA airport connections)
  • from Naples: 3h00m (NAP airport connections)

Arriving by plane

Florence airport (FLR) is small and it is equipped with a short runway. For this reason extra-european flights cannot be operated. However, main european cities (Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Lyon, London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Zurich, Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, etc...) are well connected. The link between the airport and the city centre is operated by the tramway line "T2". There is no extra cost to reach the airport with the tram and an ordinary urban ticket is sufficient.

Larger international airports (Pisa, Bologna, Roma Fiumicino, and Venice) are quite well connected via train lines (see above).

Transports in Florence

Local public transport in all Tuscany is operated by AT-BUS (buses and trams) and Trenitalia (trains). Trams in Florence are frequent and they run from 5:00 to 0:30. The conference venue is within a 4-minute walk of the nearest tram stop. Urban buses and trams can be payed by directly tapping the contactless credit card on the on-board reader without purchasing physical tickets or downloading any app.
