SIDIS-Italia analysis meeting

Meeting ID: 931 0501 1703
The feedback received from Anselm after the last SIDIS-PWG meeting, previously circulated to the entire mailing list, was shared and discussed.
Anselm’s proposal concerns the need to produce 4D plots of pion and kaon efficiency and purity, following the example shown in a talk by Marco Contalbrigo (link, p. 19).
Lorenzo explained that he was the one who produced those plots for the CLAS12 RGH experiment, which illustrate the statistical uncertainty in the extraction of Sivers and Collins asymmetries. He raised questions regarding the 4D binning grid, expressing doubts about its effectiveness and suggesting that it might need to be adapted for the ePIC case.
Salvatore expressed concerns about the risk that the plots related to luminosity might be removed by the editorial board, and suggested focusing instead on detector efficiency and purity plots.
Next steps:
- Ask Anselm and Ralf whether a standard binning grid for analyses has already been defined.
- Ask Anselm whether, in addition to the efficiency and purity plots, plots showing the statistical uncertainty (as in slide 19) are also required.
- Task: Produce 4D efficiency and purity plots analogous to those for pions, replacing the ones currently included in the pre-TDR, and generate corresponding plots for kaons. The starting point will be the binning grid to be provided. Subsequently, the study should be extended to the di-hadron channel using the same variables, showing both purity and efficiency.
Lorenzo confirmed his availability to carry out these studies; he has already developed a similar code for RGH, which runs efficiently by applying the event kinematics. His only request is to receive the binning grid input.
