I show that the so called "minimal couplings" in N=1,D=4 Supergravity are not minimal when embedded in a theory with higher supersymmetry or coming from higher dimensions. I explain the mathematical setting of "minimality" in terms of a "degeneration" of the duality symmetry of the avatar theory
