Suggested Restaurants near the Workshop Venue
The Padova University has about 60,000 students and its faculties are spread throughout the city center, near the conference venues. As a result, you can expect to find countless inexpensive restaurants around these areas.
We highly recommend trying the street food restaurants around Sotto il Salone, the oldest covered market in Europe, which has been in the same location for 600 years. You can also check out this guide (in Italian).
The center of Padova is certainly not lacking in excellent enoteche (wine bars) and outstanding pasticcerie (pastry shops) and gelaterie (ice cream shops). Additionally, Padova and its region are famous for introducing Prosecco wine, Spritz and Tiramisu. to the world. The UNESCO World Heritage site of the Prosecco Hills is worth a visit and is not far from Padova.
While Padova may not be the best place in Italy for pizza (which doesn't mean you can't find excellent pizzerias in Padova), you can invest a one-hour local train ride to San Bonifacio to try Pizzeria ai Tigli, which is ranked among the top 10 pizzerias in the world, according to various sources (see here and here).
If you are looking for a top fine dining experience and are willing to spend more than a conference fee, you can try Ristorante le Calandre in Rubano, near Padova. This three Michelin star restaurant has maintained its status for over 20 years.
If you still prefer international cuisine, be aware that most sushi restaurants in Padova operate on an “all you can eat” basis, which however is not as bad as it might sound. Ethnic restaurants are well represented (you can even find several Ramen restaurants) and international fast food chains are also diffused in the city center (but don't ask us links for those).
