Lonely Planet guide
Lecce is located in the middle of the southern end of Apulia region, in the “heel” of the Italian boot. Its province extends over the Salentinian peninsula, bordered by more than 200 km of coastline, with alternating beaches and cliffs. Lecce, with its about 95000 inhabitants, has an historical centre of considerable interest, coming back to the 17th century,  representing a triumph of the unique Baroque style (Barocco Leccese).

Accomodation:
Several large hotels are available in the city centre (typical costs between 80 and 150 Euro per night) but, more interestingly, a hundred of 'Bed and Breakfasts' (typical costs between 60 and 150 Euro per night) can offer very attractive accommodation options in the historic centre. Most of them are housed in restored historical buildings.
