Museo Diocesano
The Museo Diocesano is housed within the historic residence of the Genova Cathedral Canons, a structure dating back to the late 12th century. Its magnificent cloister, adorned with frescoed ceilings, provides a striking setting for the museum’s diverse collection. The exhibits include archaeological artifacts, significant sculptural ensembles, fine silverware, rare textiles, and radiant gold-ground paintings. Notable among them is the Polittico di San Bartolomeo by Barnaba da Modena (14th century), alongside altarpieces that highlight the exceptional artistry of Genoese painting from the 16th to 18th centuries. Enhancing this precious collection are the funerary monument of Luca Fieschi, a unique masterpiece of 14th-century sculptural art, and the 16th-century Teli Blu della Passione, precursors of jeans fabric.
