KM3NeT - Working Package 3 - Meeting on Optical Modules

Europe/Rome
Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare - Sezione di Genova

Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare - Sezione di Genova

Via Dodecaneso 33- Genova
Description
The aim of the meeting is to have a review of the current activity and to begin to define the procedure that we will use to definitely define the design of the KM3NeT optical module. This procedure should include: - an approved list of specification, - the definition of the test procedures necessary to characterize the different prototypes, - the selection criteria required to identify the "best" design. It is important that all ideas and solutions so far developed will be presented at the meeting as well as the most recent results from simulations of the possible detector geometries and the present concepts of the data handling and transmission.

      501

Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare - Sezione di Genova

      Via Dodecaneso 33- Genova

In the spirit of the CDR we have to define how we can reach the design goals
      including

Lifetime, Energy range, Zenith angular acceptance, Angular resolution of
detector, Time and position resolution, Charge dynamic range, Two-hit time
      separation, Coincidences, Dark noise rate

      Failure rate of optical modules.

This task would require the definition of the specifications, aiming at a
sort of common data sheet for the proposed solutions
What are the quantities to be measured?
      How to measure and who?
