The recent Pulsar timing array (PTA) data release by several collaborations shows evidence of the passage of gravitational waves (GW) in the nHz range.

Along with the classical astrophysical explanation, namely mergers of SMBHs binary, alternative cosmological models have been proposed.

In this talk we will focus on the primordial black holes (PBHs) explanation. Discussing in which scenarios the signal can be well fitted by the PBH explanation and what we can indirectly learn from this signal on the abundance of PBHs in the (sub)-solar mass range.
