Summary
This work provides a significant advancement in the synthesis of [203Hg]HgCH3, achieving up to 98% methylation and minimising inorganic mercury concentrations in environmental tracers. These improvements offer a more reliable and efficient method for producing [203Hg]HgCH3. This work is poised to have wide reaching implications in the field of ecotoxicology, specifically in regard to studies employing the [ 203Hg]HgCH3 tracer.
