Summary
ISIN has the responsibility of providing technical support to Civil Protection Authorities in planning and response to nuclear and radiological emergencies. In June 2025, the entire Nuclear Emergency Centre (CEN) staff of ISIN participated in the international CONVEX-3 exercise, organized by the IAEA and based on a severe accident scenario at the Cernavoda nuclear power plant in Romania. The experience confirmed the central role of the CEN as a technical advisor in nuclear and radiological emergencies, while highlighting the importance of continued investment in training, tools, and human resources to ensure the country’s operational readiness.
