Description
Within the hierarchy of quark masses in QCD, the strange quark plays an intermediate role between “light” and “heavy”. Hadronic systems with strange quarks are therefore suitable testing grounds for investigating the interplay between spontaneous and explicit chiral symmetry breaking in low-‐energy QCD. A new improved study of antikaon-‐nucleon interactions is performed using coupled-‐channels dynamics based on the next-‐to-‐leading order chiral SU(3) meson-‐baryon effective Lagrangian. Accurate constraints are now provided by the new SIDDHARTA kaonic hydrogen measurements. A state-‐of-‐the-‐art review is presented.
