Description

Encoding quantum information in systems with dimensionality larger than 2 (qudits) is important in the development of large scale architectures for many quantum technologies. This strategy is particularly suitable when using photons as carriers of quantum information, due to the variety of degrees of freedom they possess. In this work, we will show how the frequency bin basis can be particularly beneficial for the generation and control of qudits in integrated devices. We will show how integrated silicon photonics can be used to tune the generated state of frequency-bin qudits and to obtain hyper-entanglement by combining the frequency and time degrees of freedom.
