DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Roberto Ferrari (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nuclea
re)\, Marco Toliman Lucchini (INFN & University of Milano-Bicocca)\n\nThe
European Strategy for Particle Physics has identified an e+e- Higgs factor
y as the highest priority next collider to address the fundamental physics
questions which remain open. The international community has started to o
rganize the R&D efforts to study the feasibility of such a collider\, iden
tify physics-driven detector requirements and the design of next generatio
n particle detectors of which calorimeters represent a central system. The
long history of crystal homogeneous calorimeters in pushing the frontier o
f high energy resolution measurements for EM particles proves that homogen
eous EM calorimetry represents a unique opportunity compared to other samp
ling calorimeter technologies. Furthermore\, recent technological developm
ents in the fields of crystal manufacturing and photodetector developments
(SiPMs) have opened new perspectives on how a segmented crystal calorimet
er with dual-readout capabilities could be exploited for particle detector
s at future collider experiments. Based on the simultaneous measurement o
f scintillating and Cherenkov light\, the dual-readout calorimetric techni
que is designed to compensate for the fluctuations of the electromagnetic
shower fraction on an event-by-event basis\, significantly improving hadro
nic shower energy measurements. Such technology shows impressive potential
\, in particular when coupled with a highly granular readout system. On to
p of that\, time measurements may complement the 2D imaging capabilities o
f a fibre-sampling calorimeter and provide information on the shower longi
tudinal profile. The potential and expected performance of dual-readout c
alorimeters will be discussed in the context of future e+e- Higgs Factorie
s like FCC-ee or CEPC\, as well as their integration in the calorimeters o
 f proposed experiments\, like the IDEA detector.Zoom link:https://cern.zoo
