Description
Glueball masses and string tensions embed two fundamental properties of Quantum Chromodynamics: the self-interacting nature of gluons, and confinement. One further distinctive feature of QCD - asymptotic freedom - makes it possible the lattice regularization used in this study. Nowadays, the search for glueballs and the study of confinement and its interrelations with other aspects of strongly-interacting gauge dynamics are at the hearth of a variety of experimental and theoretical activities. After reviewing the early paper which gives the title to the seminar, I will focus on contemporary developments and potential synergies with nearby fields.
