Description
The transition point of both the Ising model and epidemic spreading processes on heterogeneous random graphs scales with the degree fluctuations, i.e. with \frac{}{}. The scaling behavior can change for discontinuous transitions, being related in this case to the body of the degree distribution. This difference causes non-trivial behaviors in tri-critical model systems. I will show it within the framework of the queuing network theory and of the Blume-Capel (tri-critical) Ising model.
