Ferrara is a city in Emilia Romagna (Italy) situated 50 km Northeast of Bologna and 100 km Southwest of Venice and is one of the most important Renaissance centres in Italy. This beautiful city has centuries long cultural, historical and culinary heritages and it has been qualified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site as "...a marvellous example of a city planned in the Renaissance that has preserved its historic centre intact." . The town is surrounded by more than 9 km of ancient walls where it is possible to have nice walks along tree-lined roads. Ferrara is also known as the "Italian city of bicycles" as the bicycle usage by city residents is amongst the highest in Europe.
