Description
After a brief introduction of early ideas and activities in the field, signal expectations for different target materials and Thermo-acoustic Model approaches are discussed in relation to available data.
Acoustic sensors and transmitters available from industry or developed in dedicated R&D programs are shortly characterized together with calibration methods for their applications.
Recent results of experimental tests in several target materials are reviewed and possible future applications of the acoustic particle detection technique are discussed.
