Description
Managing safety issues in a research centre can be challenging, not only due
to the complexity and wide range of the technologies in use in a laboratory,
but also due to the diversity and different backgrounds of people, as well
as to the continuous changes affecting the work-places.
The speaker will share CERN experience in addressing safety issues related
to a Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) facility. The presentation will focus on the
identified risks in the RIB target and experimental areas. It will cover the
responsibility, authority and role of actors called to manage these risks,
along with the tools (hardware, software and procedures) in use at CERN to
manage safety relevant processes, systems and equipment.
