I will review recent results on gravitational scattering and radiation from peripheral ultra relativistic collisions of light particles. The frequency spectrum of the gravitational-wave energy is found to exhibit a bump at wavelengths of the order of the impact parameter as well as a "knee" at the characteristic wavelength of Hawking's radiation from a black hole of mass $\sqrt{s}$. Finally, I will present some very recent results on high-energy gravitational scattering in $N=8$ supergravity up to 4th Post-Minkowskian order, and compare them with those obtained almost 30 years ago in pure gravity by less rigorous methods.
