Calibration of Proto-0: planning to use Am-241 source (60keV gammas) at the cathode. Would like to have a high-energy gamma source to probe the sides, but hard to find at CERN or to procure a new one.

Neutron generator. Will be tested in Moscow and Belgorod. Certification at CERN might be not trivial. Testing with Proto-0 not possible due to aggressive schedule. Can be tested with Proto-1, when successfully passed laboratory tests. The dimensions are (D~4-5cm, length 5-7cm), so it would not fit into a 3cm diameter pipe that we foresee, need alternative deployment system.

Pierre will prepare an update on the design of the source insertion system, based on discussion at the integration meeting at CERN.

The backgrounds from the source insertion system are being studied by Marseille group.

Need to focus on the interaction between the TPC and Veto calibrations, optimally using the same sources and data sets to calibrate both. Especially important to study calibration of the outer veto buffer, between the veto walls and the copper cage.

The space on the top of the cryostat would be quite limited: for source mounting we need to have a glove box, nitrogen flow, shutters etc. Probably only two of these can fit.

YBe source: the mono-energetic spectrum is peaked at ~140keV. Such low energy neutrons could give us calibration at the threshold energies. The ratio of gamma to neutron is orders of magnitude, but we might be able to cope with this given our ER rejection efficiency of 1e8-1e9. Alex will check with MC (need to implement the photonuclear and electronuclear processes in GEANT4). If we are to use a massive shield, the deployment can be a problem; most likely we can only do it at the top of the TPC.
