Description
We present the results of a series of experimental tests demonstrating
that bent crystals may act efficiently as primary collimator in a
hadron collider.
The deflected protons are easily collected in a bulk secondary
absorber. Such a system is well suited to clear the halo surrounding
the circulating beam.
The experiments, performed in the SPS at 120 GeV/c. also give a clear
indication that a similar technique can be extended to the LHC.
