LISA: detecting gravitational waves from space

LISA is a space based gravitational wave observatory which will be launched 
in 2034. In this talk I will review the gravitational wave sources accessible 
to LISA and perspectives of their detection and parameter estimation. Then we 
will discuss the anticipated scientific outcomes: constraining astrophysical models 
and setting stringent limits on possible deviations from General Relativity theory.
