PAOLA FERRETTI DALPIAZ 

Paola Ferretti Dalpiaz graduated in Physics in 1963. Paola spent her early research years at CERN; later she moved to INFN and, since 1986, she has been professor of Physics at Università of Ferrara.
Hadronic physics has been the main research interest of all of her research career. She worked on hadron sepctroscopy during her early years, and then focused on the electromagnetic form factor of the nucleon and, later on, on structure functions.
Paola has been one of the pioneers of the study of the spin dependence of strong interactions, giving key contributions to the development of gaseous targets for accumulation rings. Under her guidance, Ferrara has become a reference laboratory for the development of the relevant
techologies.
Over the years, Paola has been equally active in helping young physicists advance in their careers. including the establishment (in 2009) of the International School of Hadronic Physics "Nicolò Cabeo".

PIERO DALPIAZ

After graduating in Physics in 1962, Piero Dalpiaz began his carrier in the field of High Energy Physics by spending the following 9 years at CERN (Geneva) as a researcher. In 1971 he became associate professor of general Physics at the University of Torino and since 1981 he has been full professor at the Department of Physics of the University of Ferrara.
Piero dedicated also a large part of his work to the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), first as chairman of the Scientific Committee 1 and then as Director of the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro (LNL).
In 1992 he became the Rettore (Dean) of the University and, after his 6 year term, he was named Director of INFN, Sezione di Ferrara.
Piero Dalpiaz proposed and took part in a large number of experiments like the APPLE experiment for the measurement of the proton timelike form factors at the Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at CERN and the E760 and E835 experiments at Fermilab for the charmonium spectroscopy using p-pbar annihilations.
Currently he is a member of the NA48 Collaboration at CERN which is dedicated to CP violation studies.

GIOVANNI FIORENTINI

After an early career at INFN, Pisa, Giovanni Fiorentini became full professor of Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics at the University of Cagliari in 1987 and since 1990 he continued his research and teaching activities at the University of Ferrara.
In Ferrara he had several prestigious academic roles: he was member of the Board of Directors and of the Academic Senate, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, Coordinator of the PhD Course in Physics and Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies IUSS-Ferrara 1391.
His research activity has mainly focused on the theoretical aspects of Nuclear and Subnuclear Physics, with a particular focus on neutrino properties, and to applications in close-related disciplines like Astrophysics, Earth Sciences and Nuclear Medicine.
He is author of nearly 200 scientific publications. In recent years he also took an active part in many public research institutions as member of the Physics Committee of the National Research Council (CNR), member of the Board of Directors of the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), Director of INFN, Sezione di Ferrara  and of the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro (LNL).
