Description
ABSTRACT

Neutrino Factory and Muon Colliders are exciting machines for future precision measurements and discoveries. Achieving the required performance requires mastering of several new techniques, the most specific one being ionization cooling. The MICE experiment has been proposed and is being built at RAL, near Oxford (UK), with the purpose of demonstrating successful construction and operation of a realistic section of cooling channel. It is carried out by an international collaboration working on a new muon beam on the ISIS 800 MeV proton accelerator.
The presentation will review the physics motivations, the principle and the status of MICE.
