Description
The Veneziano amplitude for the scattering of 4 mesons was a crucial tool
in building early String Theory, it possesses some remarkable and very
desirable analytic features. But in its structure it is incomplete-
notably it lacks any information about asymptotic freedom of confining
gauge theories, we know the Regge trajectory cannot be linear forever. We
explain how to enhance the Veneziano amplitude by connecting together a
field theory computation of meson scattering, rewritten as Wilson loops
(Makeenko-Olesen) and the holographic duality to investigate how stringy
corrections might affect the meson amplitude.
