Description
This Seminar gives an overview of recent theoretical and
experimental progress in the area of nonequilibrium dynamics of isolated
quantum systems, with particular emphasis on cold atomic gases and trapped
ions. Focusing on the response of the system to a time variation of one of
its parameters we will describe several aspects of the dynamics in driven
systems, such as generation of defects, work statistics, thermalization,
pre-thermalization, and entropy production. Finally we will describe how
universality emerges in out of equilibrium isolated quantum systems in
particular in the study of! genuine dynamical quantum phase transitions.
