Description

The STAR Project is in progress at the University of Calabria (UniCal) in the frame of the PON MaTeRiA initiative. Based on a collaboration among UniCal, CNISM, INFN and Sincrotrone Trieste, it comprises the construction of a Thomson back-scattering X-ray source, a microtomography beamline (µTomo) and several collateral laboratories. The building and the main supply systems are ready and the acquisition of main source components (RF laser-driven photo-injector, RF power source, linac, magnets, integrated laser system, beam lines, control system and diagnostics) is completed, and their installation will start soon, with perspectives to begin the machine commissioning by the end of 2016. We will present the advancement status, with main focus on the control system, as well as the competences and the industrial collaborations of the local researchers involved in the project. The overall structure and some specific equipments available at MaTeRiA-Lab, will be presented in view of the integration in a diffused cluster of laboratories.
