Description
The N=40 harmonic oscillator shell gap between the fp shell and the g9/2 orbital results in the presence of a high-lying 2+ state with small transition probability to the ground state in 68Ni. South of this nucleus in the chart of nuclides, moving between the Z=28 and Z=20 shell closures, a reduction of this N=40 gap is observed and a region of deformation is found. The neutron-rich isotopes of the region along N=40 have been investigated and the main results obtained from the search for isomeric states and the analysis of beta-decays will be presented.
The second part of the talk will be dedicated to the optimization of the HPGe detector manufacture processes, different passivation techniques have been studied and new kinds of contacts have been realized at LNL.The discussion will focus on the most recent promising results for a stable uniform passivation and a thin n+ contact obtained at LNL.
