Description
High specific power targets has many applications both in fundamental and applied physics. among various applications, in this seminar we will report about the construction of a lithium target suitable for the neutron production at low energy accelerators. Accelerators of few MeV energy and current in the range of mA are now available on the market, opening the possibility of having a compact neutron source at reasonable price able to be hosted in small labs and hospital. Such a neutron source can have high brillance, but the beam power to be managed is of the order of thens of kW and a new generation of heat sink must be developed to be used with low melting point material, like Lithium.
